Capable Captain

By Neil Landwehr
Running stairs, tournaments in Maryland, doing homework: it’s all in a day for Sean Dobens, the captain of the Under-12-year-old Celtics, who play out of Asphalt Green in Manhattan. New York Family Sports talked to Sean about being a leader, staying in shape, and—media training? Being a 12-year-old athlete sure is different than when we were kids!

Terrel Phelps gives us thousands of reasons to follow Browning basketball

By Sam Blum
Don’t let his size fool you: At a skinny 6-feet, the Panther’s Terrel Phelps is playing some big time basketball. Since that game he has gotten around 300 additional points, and says getting to the 2,000-point plateau is “a real possibility.”

Get A Grip

Ain’t No Mountain High Enough for Alex Mañon

By Daniel Wright
I don't think it's just me—I hope it's not anyway—but for some odd reason, being suspended in mid air, looking for that next inch-thick crevasse to place my feet on is something that, to be perfectly honest, scares me. I prefer the security of knowing that my next footstep will see me landing on a decidedly stable surface—the ground. I am also scared of heights which will probably mean that I never enjoy the thrill and adrenaline of rock climbing.

Dylan Bo Bader gets serious about his favorite sport

By Neil Landwehr
Dylan Bo Bader is sweaty. When NYF Sports contacted the young hockey phenomenon to schedule an interview the only time we could get was during a break in his workouts at the acclaimed Chelsea Piers BlueStreak Sports Training program. Between weight training, cardiovascular drills, practice, street hockey (and school), Dylan just does not have the time to fool around. Well, he does play videogames every chance he gets.
