David Lee Guest Stars On The Electric Company

Knicks' TV Debut is Far From "Dubious"

By Neil Landwehr
DAVID LEE IS USED TO ELECTRIFYING FANS. For the last four seasons the power forward for the New York Knicks has been a consistent source of highlights on the court.

But with a forthcoming April 3rd appearance on the recently revived PBS edutainment series, The Electric Company, Lee will get a chance to wow young fans with his acting and reading comprehension. The 30-minute show blends music and humor designed to educate and entertain children who have graduated from Sesame Street. The Electric Company 2.0 has updated many conventions from the beloved 1971 original: the main characters possess superpowers relating to words, episodes feature rapping as frequently as singing, and a human beat-box provides the musical foundation for many of the songs.

Details about David Lee’s role in the April 3rd episode have been pretty hush-hush. But New York Family Sports has obtained exclusive access to excerpts of Lee’s scene from the show’s scriptwriters. In a vocabulary-focused segment, Lee plays a police officer (“COP”) who must protect a reptile from JESSICA, one of the show’s regulars. Can you say “sequel?”

CELEBRITY TRAILER: ONE TOUCHY REPTILE HECTOR (V.O.): One touchy reptile and one dubious policeman.

So different, yet so the same.

JESSICA: Ah! I was minding my own business when I saw this horrible venomous reptile.

COP: Venomous? I’m dubious about that. Most reptiles are harmless.

*The reptile is behind bars.*

COP (CONT’D): Don’t worry little guy. I’ll get to the bottom of this.

REPTILE: Aw, she hurt my feelings.

*The reptile is driving a cop car.*

COP: Slow down.

REPTILE: Oh what? You don’t like my driving?

COP: Don’t be so touchy.

REPTILE: I am not touchy.

COP: I’m dubious about that.

HECTOR (V.O.): That Touchy Reptile. Rolling into a theater near you.
