Over 1,200 NYC Youth To Compete In Summer Camp Track & Field Day

SASF FOUNDATION TO BRING TOGETHER SUMMER CAMPERS FROM ACROSS THE CITY FOR DAY OF FREE ATHELTIC FUN

By NYFS Staff

The Sports & Arts in Schools Foundation (SASF), a leading provider of after-school and summer programming for NYC public school students, will host a fun-filled day of track and field events at Icahn Stadium tomorrow for over 1,200 city youth who are attendees of SASF’s free Sports and Arts Summer Camps throughout the city.

The day will bring elementary, middle and high school students from across the five boroughs together for structured track and field races and challenges, all coordinated with assistance from professionals at the New York Road Runners Foundation. For most students, the day will provide the first opportunity to be in the middle of the action at one of NYC’s premier athletic facilities, with a large audience of family and friends cheering them on.

All participants will receive tee-shirts and medals of recognition.

Made possible with generous support from the New York City Council, SASF’s Sports and Arts Summer Camps – operating at over 50 school sites throughout the city – are run by highly-trained, licensed site directors and feature instruction from some of the city’s top sports professionals and arts institutions – all free of charge to participants.

Established in 1992, the not-for-profit Sports & Arts in Schools Foundation (SASF) seeks to improve the lives of New York City’s public school students by offering a wide variety of year-long after-school, Saturday, vacation and summer activities – including team and individual sports, performing and visual arts, and academic tutoring – that emphasize skill development, physical and mental well-being, and a positive overall outlook on the educational experience.
