Friday Night Lights Returns to NBC... Finally!

Beloved High School Football Series Is Rescued From Television Siberia

By Alyssa Atzeff
“I want to ask all of you only one question: are you Ready for FRIdAY NIgHt?” -- Coach Eric Taylor

The Dillon Panthers are back! on Friday night, 9pm, January 16th, Friday Night Lights —the best high school sports television drama ever (at least since The White shadow) —reclaimed its rightful place on Free network television. Diehard fans of the critically acclaimed series who don’t get DirecTV have been on the edge of their seats since the end of last season. but whether you’re a loyal fan or if you’ve never experienced a Dillon Panthers Friday night, have no fear. We’ve got the scouting report on all the unresolved plot lines. consider this your pre-game warm-up.

“Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose!”

recently graduated and recovering from a devastating knee injury, smash Williams’s chances to play college ball are rapidly slipping out of reach. coach eric Taylor is never better than when he strives to invigorate a frustrated star. how, if at all, will smash return to his former greatness?

That’s Principal taylor to you!

Tami Taylor is not just the coach’s wife anymore. she’s the Dillon high school principal. but how will her footballin’ hubby handle it when she reallocates athletic funds to bolster the school’s academic needs? Will her new executive position create a source of adversity that threatens their often challenging marriage?

“Riggins is running like a man possessed.”

This season, Tim riggns takes over as the Panther’s spotlight player.

but the rally girls are crying the blues because everyone’s favorite bad boy has finally surrendered to straight and narrow lyla. They became “serious” over the summer. Will their hot-cold relationship withstand their obvious differences?

Too good to be true.

last season landry clarke murdered the man who was tormenting defenseless Tyra and the two conspired to cover it up. now, the unlikely romance that blossomed between Dillon’s ill-fated couple fizzled out over the long hot summer. Will landry take a back seat yet again merely as Tyra’s “friend” and tutor?

“Jason Street reincarnated.”

Fresh-faced freshman quarterback JD Mccoy is making emotionally fragile senior quarterback Matt seracen more than a little nervous. Viewers met JD last episode in the final seconds of the Panther’s first game with an impressive 30 yard touchdown pass. can Matt avoid distractions in his personal life and remain Panther Qb-1?
